A NEWLY opened nursery in Trimdon Village has received a visit from its most famous neighbour - Prime Minister Tony Blair.
Little Tykes, based in Trimdon House, is aimed primarily at single parents who are having difficulty in finding affordable childcare.
Nursery manager Mavis Thompson said: "We fully understand the difficulties facing lone parents and want to help them in any way we can to access the childcare they need to enable them to go out to work.
"Many parents do not realise that they may be able to access financial help with childcare costs."
She said: "Our nursery staff are highly trained professionals who will be happy to answer any parent's questions on the best childcare options for their child, including financial assistance with childcare costs."
The nursery recently received a boost with the visit of the Prime Minister.
Mrs Thompson said: "We were absolutely delighted Tony Blair came to visit us.
"He looked really impressed when we showed him our nursery and explained the standards of childcare we have achieved."
Staff lead a variety of educational and fun activities daily for children aged between two and eight.
The nursery also offers a transport service to get children to and from the building and is open from 8.30am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday.
