Thousands of music fans are expected to descend on Dalby Forest near Pickering on Saturday as Yorkshire's biggest wood becomes a rock venue for top band Pulp.
The concert is part of the Forestry Commission's Music in the Forest tour and will be followed on Sunday night by Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Band. Tickets at £21 are available via (01842) 814612 from 10am to 5pm or at the Scarborough and Pickering tourist information centres. The Moorsbus will be run a service from Scarborough.
JUBILEE FUN: Gilling West Village Hall hosts an evening of fun to mark the Queen's Golden Jubilee from 7.30pm on Saturday, June 29. There will be prizes for the best fancy dress reflecting the past 50 years. Entry costs £2. Proceeds will go to charity.
SUMMER TEA: Melsonby Methodist Chapel will be open for strawberry teas between 2.30pm and 5pm on Saturday, July 13. Tickets are available on (01325) 355425. Entry costs £1.50 for adults and £1 for children.
BISHOP'S VISIT: The Bishop of Ripon, the Right Reverend John Packer, leads a Confirmation service at Kirklington's St Michael's Church on Sunday. The ceremony, which includes a baptism, begins at 10.30am.
WEDNESDAY WALK: Richmond Ramblers head for the hills around Bolton Castle today. Members leave the Nun's Close car park at 9.30am with the 10m walk to take in Castle Bolton, Oxclose, Woodhall and Carperby. For details of club events call (01748) 822845.
Energy advice: The Energy Partnership will be offering advice to homeowners on how to cut down fuel bills at an event tomorrow. Experts will be at Stokesley Community Care Centre, on the High Street, from 10am to 4pm.
Road closes: Motorists in the Hambleton and Ryedale districts are being warned of the temporary closure of a small unnamed road on Friday, from 9am to 5pm, due to tree felling. The road lies to the south of St John's Well Plantation, linking Green Lane and Moxby Lane, between Sutton-on-the-Forest and Sheriff Hutton
