A growing band of football fans are making Durham's recently-opened Gala Theatre their venue of choice to watch England's World Cup matches.
Hundreds of people have taken advantage of the free admission offer to follow the national team's progress in Japan on what is billed as the North-East's biggest screen.
Up to 500 people can be seated in the Gala Auditorium to view the 8 by 6m screen, regardless of kick-off time.
Doors to the complex, in Millennium Place, off Claypath, were opening at 7am today (FRI JUN 21), prior to the 7.30am kick-off time against Brazil.
The caf was also open to offer breakfast refreshments, including what has proved a popular £1.50 offer for a mug of coffee and bacon buttie.
Should Sven's men produce a surprise result the Gala will be staging similar screenings of Wednesday's (JUN 26) semi-final, kicking-off at 12.30pm, and the final, on Sunday June 30 (12-noon).
