The Readers Durham County League U18
Eddie Watson and Scott Kimmins led Esh Winning to an eight wickets victory when they hosted Crook Town. Watson returned the excellent analysis of four for ten from five overs and Kimmins had three for four in his three over spell as Crook Town were restricted to 42 for nine. Half their total came from Chris Guy with 21. Replying Esh Winning romped home losing two wickets as captain Mark Davison carried his bat for 20.
Ushaw Moor had 29 runs to spare when they visited Brandon who they restricted to 61 for five which included 25 by Scott Hopson. Darren Gill with two for 14 and Wilson whose two wickets cost 22 runs, were the bowler who restricted Brandon.
Batting first Ushaw Moor ended on 90 of which Wilson scored 35 and in the Brandon attack Ian Myers claimed two wickets for 19 runs and Michael Ford two for 32.
Chris Palmer hit one six and six boundaries in an unbeaten 41 and Simon Reynolds had a six and two fours scoring 20 when Newton Aycliffe overtook the Coundon total of 87 for five with eight wickets in tact. Petrie was in good form with the bat for Coundon ending unbeaten on 34 and for Aycliffe Carl Little took two of the five wickets to go down for just 11 runs in an economical five overs spell.
Etherley defeated Mainsforth by 19 runs when the home side managed 71 for three replying to the visitors total of 90 for four. Darren Patterson top scored with an undefeated 33 and Chris Hardwick added 20 for Mainsforth while for Etherley Renshaw took two for 13 in five overs. Raine (37) and Renshaw with an unbeaten 27, top performed with the bat when Etherley posted 90 for four. Three of the wickets were taken by Stephen Sweeney for 32 runs in five overs.
Tudhoe had only 11 runs to spare when they defeated Hunwick, whose total of 65 included 31 by Chris Pratt. Harry Collingwood was unquestionably man of the match, however, when he claimed six wickets for just two runs in 3.3 overs for Tudhoe. Batting first Tudhoe ended on 76 for nine of which David Curry contributed 26 not out and for Hunwick John Richardson returned four for 19.
Federation Special Durham Senior League U18
Durham City had the edge on Eppleton winning by two runs. Richard Potts led City to 95 for four scoring 46 and replying Eppleton were in with a chance when David Lowther was at the wicket. Following his dismissal for 34, however, the innings stuttered to 93 for nine with Edwards taking three for 16, Joel Hughes three for 39 and Swailes three for 13.
Chester-le-Street overtook the Felling total of 79 for seven with eight wickets in tact. Their match winner was Daniel Shurben who hit 66 and for Felling, Craig Harrison claimed both wickets to fall for 19 runs. When Felling made first use of the wicket their top performer was Craig Harrison with 33 and for the Cestrians Morrison returned three for 17 and Rodham two for 18.
Mujeeb Marjad returned the excellent analysis of four for 11 when Burnmoor managed 53 for five against Gateshead Fell, who batting first finished with 86 for four which included 44 not out by Richard Smith.
Horden had ten wickets in hand of Sunderland overtaking the target of 62 when Tony Murphy carried his bat for 35 and Ian Johnson finished with 17 not out.
When Sunderland batted first and realised 61 for six more than half runs came from McOwat with 31 and for Horden Tony Murphy took two for 14 and Paul Dixon two for nine.
South Hetton posted 79 for seven with most of the runs coming from Carl Gippert who contributed 44. Bewick Hall had a good game with bat and ball for Philadelphia and after taking three for nine he top scored with 34 leading his side to a six wickets victory. Conway claimed three for 15 in the South Hetton attack.
The game between South Shields and Marsden finished as a draw. South Shields made 73 for five batting first and replying Marsden were 73 for six as Arrowsmith captured three wickets for 25 runs.
