TWO war veterans have helped complete an exhibition in east Cleveland on the Second World War.
Normandy veterans John Grange and Charles Debrick presented Redcar and Cleveland mayor Councillor Eric Jackson with a two-volume history of French town, Conde-sur-Noireau, including its wartime years.
The book will form part of an exhibition, opened by the mayor yesterday, at Skelton Library.
The book was given to another Normandy veteran, Mick Warren, from Brotton, who has helped assemble the display.
Memorabilia, including a German helmet, shell cases and medals, with written memories from townspeople, are on show alongside wartime posters designed by children from Skelton Junior School.
Mr Warren, an RAF squadron leader who flew as a gunner in Lancasters during the D-Day landings, said: "There are many unsung heroes in our area and I am delighted we are able to tell some of their stories in this exhibition.
