TWO civic figures from opposite sides of the River Tees joined forces yesterday to launch a fundraising appeal.
The Speaker of Middlesbrough, Councillor Ken Hall, and the Mayor of Stockton, Jean O'Donnell, met at the top of the Transporter Bridge - 165ft above the point where the two towns meet.
Their gesture of solidarity was to promote a sponsored climb of the bridge taking place on Saturday, July 6, to raise money for Teesside Hospice, Middlesbrough and Butterwick Hospice, Stockton.
Anyone interested in taking part in the climb, organised by Middlesbrough Erimus Rotary Club, is asked to contact (01642) 591555, 355866 or 624231.
