STUDENTS who achieved a 100 per cent pass rate on a college care course have all earned university places.

Most of the group who passed their Advanced Vocational Certificate of Education in Health and Social Care at Bishop Auckland College are planning careers in nursing.

Sarah Back, 18, from Butterknowle, Emma Walker, 17, from Bishop Auckland, Andrea Slack, 33, from Crook, and Laura Thompson, 18, from Sunnybrow, will study for nursing diplomas at Teesside University.

Natalie Pratt, 19, from Willington, is taking a degree in playwork and social welfare at the University of Northumbria, where Leigh Trembath, 18, from Bishop Auckland, will be studying for a nursing diploma.

Kim Vickers, 18, from Bishop Auckland, is going to Trinity College, Carmarthen, to take a primary years teacher training degree.

Most of the students returned to the college for a celebration party and were given good luck bears by their lecturer Elizabeth Longmire.

She said: "They have been a lively and friendly group who have really enjoyed their time at college. We are delighted to get a 100 per cent success rate and wish every one of them the very best for the future.
