BT Cellnet has appealed to the Secretary of State for the Environment over Darlington Borough Council's decision to refuse permission for a 15-metre phone mast and equipment cabin in the grounds of the Cockerton Club, Woodland Road, Darlington. The council said it would spoil the look of the area and was too close to the Cockerton Conservation Area.
GOLF THEFT: A Ping golf bag and a full set of clubs, worth £320, were stolen from outside Woodham Golf Club, in Newton Aycliffe, between 8pm and 9pm on Tuesday.
CARS DAMAGED: About £500 worth of damage was done to the bodywork of a blue Volvo S40 in Surtees Terrace, Chilton, when someone walked over the bonnet, roof and boot early on Tuesday. A Volvo 850, parked outside a neighbouring property, was also damaged.
