TWO youths will appear in court today charged over alleged environmental damage at a North-East coastal beauty spot which was recently visited by the Queen.
Officers investigated after a Fiat Uno was found abandoned and on fire at Dene Holme Bank, Blackhall, east Durham, earlier this month.
Six bags of household waste were found nearby, on a site which is part of a conservation area and which featured in the Turning the Tide reclamation project, half a mile from where the Queen visited during her golden jubilee tour last month.
The youths, aged 17 and 18, will appear before Peterlee magistrates charged with environmental offences relating to the dumping of the rubbish. The older youth is also charged with abandoning a vehicle and driving without insurance.
