A VISITOR attraction staged special workshops as part of National Children's Art Day, yesterday.
To mark the event, The National Glass Centre, in Sunderland, offered 11-year-olds from the city's Dame Dorothy and Havelock primary schools the chance to take part in glass-making workshops involving painting, engraving and mosaics.
It was devised by the Clore Duffield Foundation, in partnership with other organisations, to highlight the importance of art and creativity in young people's lives and encourage them to explore art in and out of school.
National Glass Centre events officer Alison Lumsdon said: "This was a great opportunity to bring young people into contact with the National Glass Centre in an unusual way.
"I hope that they learned something about creative art, had an enormous amount of fun, and felt inspired to keep coming back."
