A children's organisation in east Durham has received a £3,000 grant to buy specialist equipment.
The East Durham Play and Community Network has been awarded the money from the Ronald McDonald Children's Charities (RMCC).
The cash will be used to buy multi-sensory equipment. Margaret Girvan from the Community Network said: "It's fantastic news. With the new equipment, we will be able to promote play opportunities and provide play sessions which encourage child and parent involvement. It will also help to increase children's confidence and ability to communicate.''
Last year, the RMCC donated over £400,000 to more than 200 children's organisations and this year has pledged a further £450,000 to help children with special needs.
