THE Dusk 'til Dawn band will provide entertainment at a summer ceilidh next Friday. PAINTING DISPLAY: Local artist Robert Wilson will exhibit his paintings, called Hall Walks, in the Long Gallery, Seaton Holme, Easington Village, from Monday, July 8, to Sunday, August 4. Admission is free and the venue is open on weekdays between 9am and 4pm, and on weekends from 11am to 4pm.
FATHER VISITS: Father Peter Henriot, the director of the Jesuit Centre for Theological Reflection in Lusaka, Zambia, will be giving a talk at St Patrick's, in Consett, at 8pm on Thursday, July 4. He will talk about the work of the church charity Cafod, in Zambia.
LINE DANCE: The Ann Eda School of Dance is holding a
charity line dance in aid of breast cancer research next Friday, at Durham Indoor Bowling Club. The event starts at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £3 and are available on 0191-386 6921.

CHURCH SALE: St Cuthbert's and St Aidan's Church is holding a sale in Durham Town Hall on Saturday June 29, between 1.30pm and 4.30pm. Admission is free and proceeds will go to church funds. Teas will be served.
ANNUAL MEETING: Chester-le-Street Citizens' Advice Bureau is holding its annual meeting at Bullion Hall, Bullion Lane, Chester-le-Street, on Friday, July 5, at 6.30pm for 7pm. Guest speaker will be Durham North Labour MP Kevan Jones.
FAIR RUN: Blue Coat Junior School's summer fair and fun run will be held at the Langley Road grounds, in Newton Hall, Durham, on Saturday, June 29, starting at 1.15pm. It features a grand summer draw, supported by Barclays Bank Care in the Community, plus a tombola and other stalls.
STORY SESSION: Taffy Thomas and his story coat arrived at Bearpark Community Centre for storytelling, coffee, tea and cakes, yesterday morning. The event was supported by the Single Regeneration Budget and Brandon and Deerness Valley Sure Start.
Charity cash: The Durham group of Diabetes UK held a collection at Sainsbury's in the Arnison Centre, Pity Me, that raised more than £484 towards the cost of diabetes research
