THE catering department at the University Hospital of North Tees has been given a Food for Health Award for providing high catering standards to patients and visitors.
The award was presented to the team last week at the Ragworth Neighbourhood Centre, in Stockton, by Councillor Ann Cains.
The catering team at North Tees won an award for excellent hygiene standards and provision of no-smoking facilities.
The award recognises the important contribution that caterers can make to the health of their customers.
Colin Chapman, catering manager at the hospital, said: "I am absolutely delighted we have won this award. All staff in the catering department strive to ensure excellent hygiene standards and provision of the highest quality food.
"Working in a hospital obviously means we are motivated towards healthy food, providing balanced, nutritious meals in a healthy, pleasant environment. The award acknowledges the hard work and dedication of the catering team.
