Cleveland County
Cleveland travelled to east Yorkshire, with the ladies team in a top of the table clash at the start of the match east Yorkshire were just three points ahead of Cleveland so it was all to play for. Cleveland started excellent winning the first set by a brilliant 10-1 margin. Cleveland lost the second set 7-4 but still led the match 14-8 in the third set east Yorkshire just scraped through 6-5, with Cleveland leading the match 19-14 going into the last set and Cleveland finished the job off with a last set win of 7-4 to run out 26-18 winners and take over the lead at the top of the region one table. There was joint lady of the match awards which went to Ann Louise Eaton and Heather Morton who were both outstanding for Cleveland both winning all their four frames. Also in top form to help the ladies team to victory were Louise Etherington, Jillian Cook, Marie Waite, Lyndsey Mokeller who all won three from four played. The men's teams both lost out when they were let down by players not attending this match and had to concede frames in both A and B teams. The a team were defeated 29-15 losing all four sets 6-5,7-4,7-4 and 9-2 man of the match was Cleveland's veteran Tony Kay who won three from four also with three wins from four was Dave Nichols. The B team were defeated 28-16 losing all four sets 7-4,8-3,6-5 and 7-4 there was joint man of the match awards which went to Steve Phillips and Ed Smith who were both in excellent form winning all their four frames with Dave Eaton winning three frames from four played.

Division Two
The Cleveland C were at home to top team New Marske Sports Club and went 2-0 up with wins from D Richardson and A Hartshorn, P Buckton pulled one back for the NMSC but R Morley made it 3-1 Sporty came back to make it 3-3 with wins from G Brayfield and N Bailes. NMSC then won the first doubles the Cleveland then won the last two to win the match.
The Clarey B pulled a couple of points back on the leaders after their home win over the RAFA. In a good team performance M Cockfield, N Bottomley, M Burdon, J Whyman with an eight-ball clearance from the break C Murmad winning her first game of the season and W Mccarthy making it 6-0. The Clarey then won 2/3 doubles for a 8-1 win.
The Fairway B were at home to the Barns B and went 4-0 up with wins from A Williams, J Williams, D Addison and K Jowers. D Reed was unlucky to lose with D Canwell making it 4-1. M Waller then won the last singles to make it 5-I. Fairway then won all three doubles for a 8-1 win.

Middlesbrough and District League Cup Final
division one reigning champions Tables, formerly E Grecos, and the Captain Cook 8s met in the Final.
In the first frame of the final between Michael Gray and ex-Cook player Stuart Richardson saw a tough frame with both players not giving much away then M Gray got the first chance and missed but got back in the frame and ended up winning for 1-0 to the Cook 8s. In frame two Kevin Pigott tables who has only lost one frame all season was up against ex-Tables player Paul Burke. Paul had the first clear chance but missed his last red in the middle pocket with the black over the other middle pocket, this let in Kevin who potted sow excellent yellows and the black to win the frame for 1-1. In frame three another ex-Cook player Chris Gladwin was up against Gary Mahon and with Chris Gladwin's potting ability he went straight for the kill. From the break Chris potted three and was unlucky not to clear the table, but left Gary with an awkward shot. Chris got to the black only to leave it handing on the pocket.
And Gladwin went on to win the frame.
In frame four Alan Stevenson was up against his bogey player Terry Allan. Steve played excellent throughout till he got to the black which was a fairly easy cannon to pot, but Alan left the black over the pocket and terry forced his way back in the frame receiving two shots and clearing the table for 3-I. Frame five and the Cooks could not afford any more mistakes. Steve Woodier was up against Simon Holmes with the frame starting as a safety game. Woodier then went for the game and cleared the table for 3-2.
In frame six Shaun Richardson Tables was up against Kevin Dismore in the first part of the frame both players were not giving each other anything to go at then Dismore went for the clearance trying to knock a couple of balls into the open from pots but broke down. This gives Shaun an excellent chance to win the frame and match for Tables with the first couple of shots. A bit tricky for Shaun but he then ran out with an impressive eightball finish to win the frame and match 4-2 to Tables.
In the semi-finals of the Alternative Cup the Crown and Mitre and Captain Cook had a close fought match.
Tony Brown and Alan Blenkinsopp put The Crown 2-0 up. Darren Brittain and Michael Quinn then put the Cook back in the match winning the next two frames for 2-2. J Kebab then put the Crown back in front 3-2. Paul Phillips got the Cook back on level terms taking the match into a deciding frame and it was Crown's Kevin Hudson who held the pressure well to defeat Sean Metcalfe for a 4-3 win to the Crown. They will play either The Saltersgill or Yellow Rose in the final.
Durham County League
The team knock-out took place at Daisy Hill Sacriston with eight of the 11 teams in the league entering. Table one brought together leaders Horden against second placed Shildon. Horden raced into a 7-0 lead with wins from Darren Jones, James Evans, Steve Nixon, Paul Hickman, Steve Wylie, John Bourne and Dave Jones. Shildon then got two frames back from Paul Armstrong and Martin Taylor before Shaun Williams got the winning point to make it 8-2 and put Horden in the next round.
Table two saw Durham A edge out Bishop Auckland 8-6 with two wins from Ben Bowen, Paul Shutt and Barry Dowson, one win each from Chris Greenwell and Lee Holdsworth. Bishop's wins came from Warren Stamp and Ron Wright with two wins each, and one each from Peter Mernor and Dave Baird.
Table three saw Durham B ease into the semi's with a 8-3 win over Consett. Their was two wins each from Michael Rhodes, Paul Brockway and Andrew Morley, one win each for Andy Seal and Trevor Walton. Consett had wins from Kevin Rainbow, David Castledene and Alan Dixon.
Table four was the first match of the day to go to a play off game when Aycliffe A played Ferryhill. Aycliffe A had two wins from Dave Bromley and Johnny Mason, one win each for Christopher Mason, Craig Poskett and Steve Bainbridge. Ferryhill replied with two wins from Ronnie McAloon and Steve Webster, one win each from Chris Murrat, Steve Wray and Simon Corbridge. Andrew Tuesday was then drawn against Phil Cox who cleared the table for victory when Tuesday failed to pot a ball from the break.
The first semi-final also went to play off game when Durham B went 3-0 up against Horden. Horden then went into a 6-4 lead only to see Durham B take three of the last four frames to force a play off. Durham B had two wins from Paul Brockway and Trevor Walton,with Michael Rhodes, Chris Bowron and Dave Hodgson adding one each. Horden had two wins from Steve Nixon and one each from Steve Wylie, John Bourne, James Evans David and Darren Jones. In the play off game Darren Jones was drawn against Michael Rhodes who cleaned his last six balls off and the black to clinch victory for the Durham B side.
The second semi final was one sided and possibly the shock off the day when Durham A beat Ferryhill 8-3 to make it a all Durham final. Durham A had two wins from Dave Neill, Ben Bowen and Paul Shutt, one win each from Chris Greenwell and Barry Dowson. Ferryhill had wins from Steve Webster, Martin Short and Ronnie McAloon.
The final saw Durham B take a 7-3 lead with wins from Paul Brockway, Michael Rhodes, Trevor Walton, Chris Bowron, Dave Hodgson, Andy Seal and Ian Dinsdale. Durham A replied with one win from Ben Bowen and two wins from the unbeaten Paul Shutt. Only to see Durham B's unbeaten player Paul Brockway win his sixth game of the day and win the title 8-3 for the B team.
Bishop Auckland and District League
Crook Coach and Horses in their first season in the league lifted themselves into top spot for the first time with an odd point victory at Bishop Auckland King's Head. The singles points were shared when Andrew Tuesday and Warren Stamp took two and Malcolm Parry one for the King's, whilst the Coach replied with two points from les Scott and Michael Burke with Lee Scott adding one. The coach edged into the lead when they took the doubles through Aaron Cowan and Neil Campbell only to see David Jacomb square the match by taking the first captain's point against Les Scott. However, the Coach landlord took his revenge by taking the deciding captain's game.
Bishop Auckland Snooker Club A notched their first double figure victory since joining the league when they beat the visiting Witton Park Rose and Crown for the loss of only three points. The Snooker Club took the first ten points when Craig Douthwaite, Mark Plews, John Peacock, Kevin Douthwaite and Michael Hopper all took two singles points each. The Rose and crown took the remaining points when Paul McConnell and Stuart Barker won the doubles and Paul Frame beat Michael Hopper in both captain's games.
The Coach and Horses are five points ahead of Crook Olde Horse Shoe, who have a match in hand, whilst Bishop Auckland Snooker Club B, Spennymoor Ashtree and Bishop Auckland King's Head, who are all seven points adrift of the Olde Horse Shoe, share third place.

Spennymoor League
Spennymoor Hillingdon were held to a draw by the visiting Spennymoor Penny Gill but they needed a last frame win by their captain to assure them of a share of the points. The home side had singles wins from P. Fox and B. Geldart whilst the Penny Gill went ahead with wins from Peter Carr, Gried Wyper and Baz Fulton. The Hillingdon levelled by taking the first doubles through Fox and Geldart but the visitors restored their lead when Fulton and Wyper won the second doubles. C. Simpson, the Hillingdon captain forced the draw when he beat Peter Carr.
Spennymoor Black Horse increased their lead at the top of the table to five points after whitewashing the visiting Coxhoe Red Lion. However the second placed Spennymoor Quinns Inn have a match in hand and are seven points ahead of Spennymoor Victoria.

With the teams on a week's break, the leading player in the race for the Player of the Year title is Derek Cooper of the Aclet with 16 wins from 21 games. In second place with 14 wins from 17 games is Steve Jones of the Hillingdon, whilst Steve Lowther of the Derby with 14 wins from 18 games.
Four players share fourth place with 13 wins from 19 games. They are Dave Jacomb of the Hillingdon, David Graham of the Voltigeur and Gary Brown of the Wheatsheaf.

Tow Law League
Tow Law North Point moved up to second place in the table after they only dropped two points to the visiting Tow Law New Market A. The Point took the first five singles games through Alan Henderson, Dave Morton, Gary Watson, Howard Spoors and Colin Armstrong before the visitors opened their account with a win from David Corrigan. The Market then took the first doubles through Phil Spencer and Terry Taylor but the Point completed their victory by taking the final two doubles.
Graeme Thompson won the first singles for Lanchester King's Head against the visiting Tow Law Dan's Castle A but that was their last success in the singles as Lee Stockdale, Lee Furber, Lee Wilkinson, Jamie Dowson and Anthony Hird won for the Castle. The visitors completed a fine victory when they took two of the three doubles points.
Tow Law Rose and Crown lead the table by two points, with Tow Law North Point in second place, one point ahead of Tow Law Dan's Castle A. Esh Football Club made a massive jump up the table following their whitewash success at Hamilton Row and are now in fourth place, just a point adrift of Dan's Castle A.
