A PRIMARY school football team are celebrating cup winning success for the first time in 29 years.
Cleves Cross Primary School at Ferryhill has been entering the Spennymoor and Ferryhill Primary Schools' Football Association Five-a-Side Football Festival since it was established.
But headteacher John Hepplewhite said his team have never won in the 29 years he has been in charge.
Now, however, the silverware has pride of place after the squad beat off the challenge of 16 teams.
Mr Hepplewhite said: "I am delighted that we have won it eventually.
"We have won minor things but this is the main competition.
"It doesn't matter what quality team we have put out in the past we just never managed it and now we have.''
The winning team are captain Jason White, Dean Egleton, Ricky Morland, Dean Wilkinson, who are all 11, Michael Pattison, Joe Ramage, Kieron Thompson, who are ten years old, and Timothy Fenny, who is nine
