Boddington's Durham Coast League Under-15s
Stephen Gale and Michael Appleby were both in magnificent form for Dawdon against Peterlee. Gale hit three sixes and 12 boundaries in an unbeaten 97 and Appleby had no fewer than 13 fours carrying his bat for 64 as Dawdon reached 170 for the loss of just one wicket. Despite 44 not out by Laidler with one six and six boundaries, Peterlee managed 79 for four when they replied.
Castle Eden also enjoyed a handsome win when they hosted Murton who they restricted to 90 for three as Graham Stonebank took two wickets for 35 runs. Liam Brown then carved out an unbeaten innings of 52 and in partnership with Danny Evans (36no) led Castle Eden to 92 without loss.
Houghton had eight wickets to spare at home to Silksworth. Needing to score 77 runs Houghton were indebted to Carl White for his 39 and to Tim Bowman who added 28. In the Silksworth innings none did better than Dixon with an unbeaten 33 while Paul Howe contributed 20 to the team total of 76 for four. Hylton comfortably defeated Ryhope after posting 106 for three of which Tony Holder scored 33 and Brian Conlon 37. Responding Ryhope were restricted to 78 for nine as Christopher Allan returned the outstanding figures of four for five.
Seaham Park celebrated their first win of the season and did so in style when they bowled out Bill Quay for 29. Thompson had a hat-trick in figures of three for two, Corkhill took two for five and Ord two for six before Riches finished unbeaten with 13 as Seaham Park responded with 30 for the loss of two wickets.
Foster's Northumberland and Tyneside U18 League
Graham Carr, who has just moved from Annfield Plain, celebrated with his new club Burnopfield when he crashed a magnificent 11 not out against Sacriston. Carr hit three sixes and 17 boundaries and together with Ryan McVittie, whose undefeated 55 included a couple of sixes and four fours, enabled Burnopfield to make the huge total of 193 for the lost of just one wicket.
Replying Sacriston managed 78 for the loss of five wickets and Craig Blakey was their top scorer ending with 26 not out. Lee Stoneman again impressed in the Burnopfield attack taking two wickets for 17 runs.
Mark Gray had three sixes and ten boundaries in 92 as he propelled Swalwell to 135 for six in their home game with Shotley Bridge. Stokoe returned two for 34 and Grinter two for 39 for the visitors who were dismissed for only 73 which included 31 by Charlton. Peter Scott bowled well for Swalwell and was well worth his figures of three for 23.
Annfield Plain had ten runs to spare at home to Consett. When they made first use of the wicket the Plain realised 91 for six which included 32 by Chris Robinson, Navid Ahmed took three of the six wickets to fall for 16 runs and responding Consett were restricted to 81 for six.
At Blaydon the home side overtook the Crookhall total of 100 for six with eight wickets left. David Bailey bowled well ending unbeaten on 60 and Mark Cawthorne contributed 36.
When Crookhall made first use of the wicket David Richardson scored 69 of his team's total of 100 for six and for Blaydon Cawthorne was the most productive wicket taker with figures of two for 28.
Foster's Northumberland and Tyneside Under-18 League
Sacriston enjoyed a quick-fire ten wickets victory when they met Chopwell who they dismissed for 30 as Chris Tilley took two for five runs, Mark Fort two for four and Graeme Stephenson two for five. Stuart Phillips then carried his bat for 23 in partnership with Craig Blakey and the two youngsters saw Sacriston home without conceding a wicket.
Mark Ramshaw with three for nine was in good form with the ball for Lanchester, but Whickham still managed 111 for seven. In reply Lanchester made just 72 for six including 28 by Ramshaw and 21 from McPhail. Ainley with two for 16 and Brodie (2-12) were both among the wickets for Whickham.
Khan scored an excellent unbeaten 49 leading Annfield Plain to 93 for four at Greenside for whom Andrew Edwards captured all four Plain wickets for just 19 runs. Replying Greenside managed 76 for five which included 32 not out by Lewis Hardy. Ahmed was in good form with the ball for Annfield Plain conceding 18 runs in five overs after taking three wickets.
Swalwell had 25 runs in hand of visitors Shotley Bridge. Rob Grand top scored with 25 not out as Swalwell reached 106 for four and in response Shotley Bridge totalled 81 for five of which Lloyd top scored with 23. Chris Warwick claimed four wicket for 11 runs in five overs for Swalwell. At Lintz the home side defeated Consett comfortably. Dolan made 37 of the Lintz total of 96 for seven and Steel and Consett responded with 61 for eight.
George Mann Cup
Wolsingham Teachers made a great start in their game against the unbeaten Eastgate Cross Keys when they had Gary Boothroyd, Ken Walters and Graeme Dalton all scoring 21 runs. They looked set for a big score until three players were run out thanks to the enthusiastic and very effective Eastgate fielding. The Teachers ended their innings when the overs ran out on 108.
The Cross Keys batting proved just as effective as their fielding with Willie Hutchinson and Ian McDonald both contributing an impressive 25 each. The scoring rate was always good enough and the Keys moved ahead with six overs remaining. They continued to bat the innings out in order to improve their runs for column in the qualifying league and ended on 133. Wolsingham Sixth Form were severely weakened when they batted first against Wolsingham Mill Race. Some dogged defending and a few good scoring shots from James Coxon, Chris Evans, Wayne Booth and Chris Hayle steadily took the Sixth Form to 86 when the overs ran out. The Mill Race reply began positively with Ritchie Pringle making 25 and Malcolm Baines 20. The Sixth Form looked to be in with chance when they took four quick wickets for little cost but the Mill Race continued their innings to end up with 123 all out.
The provisional re-arranged matches for next week are, Monday: Tow Law Black Horse v Wolsingham Club. Tuesday: Sunniside Comedian v Tow Law Black Horse. Wednesday: Weardale Steel v Stanhope All Stars.
