Sir, - It was reported to me that someone had destroyed the waterfall at Ramshaw. I therefore went down to see it, and someone had driven a bulldozer right through it.

This waterfall, or weir, had been there for almost 200 years. For years this was a beautiful spot, people would picnic there, bathe in it, swim in it and fish in it. Two hundred years of beauty, destroyed in two days.

So, once again, someone has destroyed a lovely piece of the history of our village. Here we are trying to improve our village environment and someone devastates it.

We have an ongoing battle in the villages of Ramshaw and Evenwood by teenage vandals, but this has been done by some adult who should know better. I am absolutely disgusted.

If there is anyone who has any photographs of the waterfall, I would be grateful if they could send them to me to copy and I will return them and pay any postage incurred.

I have had some wonderful days at this lovely spot in the 30s, 40s and 50s and am sad that it is now gone for future generations.
