A PETERLEE community centre is hoping to encourage more groups to use it.
Oakerside Community Centre is holding its annual meeting on Wednesday, July 3, at 7pm, in the small hall.
The meeting will give the public a chance to voice their opinions on what they would like to happen at the centre.
Oakerside is not fully used and there are opportunities for new classes to start.
It has a large hall, which can seat 120 people, and a small hall, which can seat 30.
The centre management says both halls are ideal for social and light sporting activities, parties and discos.
Centre caretaker Carole Lister said: "Not many people know of its existence let alone of its availability and it's a shame really because it is a lovely and well kept centre."
Sessions include belly dancing on Mondays, adult tap dancing on Tuesdays, aerobics on Wednesdays, Scout and Cub each Thursday, and children's tap and ballet each Friday and Saturday morning.
Mrs Lister said: "Apart from that there are loads of opportunities for new classes to extend their skills.
"This is the community's chance to voice their opinion and let us know what they would like to see happen.''
