PEOPLE are being urged to help the environment by reducing the amount of waste they create.
Chester-le-Street District Council's waste minimisation officer, Helen Grant, appealed for residents in the district to choose products packaged in glass, which they could then recycle.
For National Glass Week, which started on Tuesday, celebrities including Graham Norton and Sir Steven Redgrave made their own promises to increase the amount they send for recycling.
