Firefighters were called to three blazes near Darlington Football Club's Feethams ground last night.
First, a lavatory block in the town's South Park, near the Victoria Embankment, was set alight.
Soon afterwards, a rubbish bin in the park was also set on fire, followed by a derelict cottage in Polam Lane. All three fires are being treated as suspicious.
Station Officer Peter Matthews, from Darlington Fire Station, said: "We got a call to the South Park toilet block at about 8.30pm and were faced with three scenes of fires."
Police were last night questioning a youth in connection with the incident.
