A COUPLE who met outside a cinema during the Second World War have celebrated 60 years together.
Tom and Ethel Bagguley, of Lazenby Crescent, Darlington, spent their diamond wedding anniversary in Bournmouth.
Their daughter, Pat, could not help them celebrate because she was visiting two of her children in Dubai. Mr and Mrs Bagguley returned from a month-long visit to Dubai in March. Mr Bagguley was born near Saltburn, but moved to Darlington in 1927.
He met his future wife in 1940. She worked at the Co-op, while he spent his working life as an engineer.
Since retiring, Mr Bagguley likes to spend his time gardening, while Mrs Bagguley enjoys shopping.
The couple have three grandchildren, one living in Hurworth and two in Dubai, and five great-grandchildren.
