A FOOTBALL and community day is being organised thanks to a grant from the National Lottery.
Branksome Residents' Association, in Darlington, has been awarded £4,990 from the Awards for All scheme to help host the event.
The residents' association is working with community group Cable and schools in the Cockerton and Branksome areas to set up the carnival on July 6, at Branksome School.
The main event will be a football tournament organised by the Darlington Spraire Lads football club.
Other activities will include a disco, bouncy castle, face- painting and stalls.
Branksome Youth Club and Social Club will also be open for refreshments and there will be food available at the school.
The event will run from 10am to 6pm and is free. To get involved call (01325) 354084.
