A FORMER Salvation Army officer has been appointed to run Newton Aycliffe Youth Centre.
Darren Hook has taken on the role of senior education in the community worker.
He will be responsible for adult education and the running of the youth centre, which should move to new premises when a town centre extension goes ahead.
After gaining a diploma in youth work from Manchester University, Mr Hook, who is married with two children, returned to the North-East and gained a position with Connexions, in Newton Aycliffe, which offers personal advice to young people.
