PEOPLE in Redcar and Cleveland are being asked to nominate their favourite local landmarks for a national heritage award.
The borough council has been asked if it wants to put forward any of its landmarks or buildings for the Queen's Golden Jubilee Heritage Awards.
The one-off awards will be given to local authorities which have protected and preserved buildings and monuments of historic significance.
The council leader, Councillor David Walsh, is asking people to come to him with their ideas about which buildings should be nominated.
"I think we should have a go in Redcar and Cleveland," he said. "We do, I believe, have a fine selection of outstanding buildings and a local history to be proud of. They are looking for buildings which could be seen as symbolic in promoting historical or community importance, or which might represent fine design or craftsmanship."
Winning entries will receive a plaque.
Coun Walsh already has a few ideas for the council's entries, including the Victorian pier and cliff lift at Saltburn, the 17th Century Kirkleatham Almshouses, the 16th Century Marske Cheshire Home, and the 200-metre tall Redcar Blast Furnace.
Ideas can be submitted to Coun Walsh at the Town Hall, Fabian Road, South Bank, TS6 9AR.
