AN ex-soldier who was wounded while serving in Northern Ireland has died at the age of 67.
George Hopkins, a father of seven, of Ryefield Road, Scarborough, North Yorkshire, served 26 years in The Green Howards. Former colleagues will act as pall bearers at his funeral next week at Scarborough's Woodlands Crematorium.
After leaving the Army, he was commended by a judge at York Crown Court after he arrested a man attempting to steal £3,300 from a toy shop where he worked as a security guard.
