Ripon'S Freemasons will hand over cheques to local causes today to help mark a national awareness week which aims to kill off some of the myths which surround the organisation.
Lodges across the UK have arranged events to celebrate Freemasonry in the Community, including open days aimed at allowing the public a glimpse behind the scenes.
Leading community members will attend a reception at Ripon's Masonic Hall, at 11am today. Afterwards cheques will be presented to The Ripon Council for Voluntary Service, Ripon Grammar School, the Ripon Raptors Water Polo Club and Ripon's St John's Church.
