OLDER people in Darlington are taking full advantage of a series of events in the town.
Darlington Active Independent and Staying Young (Daisy) is a month-long campaign organised by Darlington Borough Council to encourage people over 50 to get more involved in the community.
A variety of competitions are being held throughout the month at sheltered accommodation in the town.
It is hoped the campaign will encourage older people to use communal facilities in sheltered accommodation, even if they do not live there.
The results of each competition will be published in The Northern Echo.
A baking competition held at Ted Fletcher Court raised £80 for the Butterwick Hospice after all the entries were auctioned off.
