TWO people were arrested yesterday by detectives investigating the mysterious death earlier this month of busker Tony Grayson.
A 35-year-old woman and a 36-year-old man were taken in for questioning by detectives in York.
In a statement, police confirmed that the two were arrested "in connection with the circumstances surrounding the death of Anthony Grayson".
Meanwhile, a spokesman said investigations were continuing.
Mr Grayson died on June 4 at a flat in George Street, off Walmgate, York, which he shared with his fiance and partner of six years, Jackie Dawson.
A murder-style inquiry was launched after a post-mortem examination showed he had suffered internal injuries, thought to have been caused in a violent attack.
York detectives have been working with colleagues in Essex, as Mr Grayson was believed to have been attacked by three men outside Castle Park, in Colchester town centre, during the weekend of May 25 and 26. They were trying to trace two men who were seen earlier with Mr Grayson in the park.
Officers have also been investigating information that Mr Grayson, who was part of York's drug user community, was attacked in the city days before he died.
Last week, police launched a poster campaign urging people to help them piece together his movements between May 20 and June 4. Anyone with information is asked to contact them on (01904) 618618, or call anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
