TWO women are to earn their crust at a North-East bread-making factory by staging popular tours.
To meet the demand from schools and other groups for a look around the Warburtons bakery in Newburn, Newcastle, two members of staff are being trained as tour guides.
Carolyn Liddle, from Washington, and Margaret Sharp, from Sacriston, have worked for a number of years at Warburtons as demonstrators and will use these skills during the weekly tours.
They will show visitors how the factory bakes 20,000 bread buns in an hour and more than 120,000 loaves a day, as well as learn about the history of bread making from Egyptian times.
