A VILLAGE's street parade will go ahead despite being unable to use a main road.
Recent changes in regulations mean the organisers of parades have to obtain a road closure order.
The organisers of the parade and fun day at Bowburn usually use Durham Road, but will still be able to hold the procession by using side streets instead.
Featured in the procession will be a pipe band, children in festival costumes, Roman soldiers, horses, motorbikes and a juggler.
It will start at 12.30pm on Saturday July 6 at the north end of the village and reach Bowburn Community Centre by 1pm, when the fun day activities start.
These include stalls, local history displays, mining memorabilia, a display of Roman soldiers and storytelling.
There will also be a bouncy castle, Punch and Judy show and face painting for younger children.
Refreshments will be served from the community centre and the DJ Evans Youth Club.
Junior and secondary school-age five-a-side football tournaments will be held in the youth club from 11am.
Teams can either turn up on the day or contact the tournament organisers in advance by calling 0191-377 3644 or 0191-377 1491.
