Police looking for a missing 18-year-old reveller have pulled a body out of the River Tees.
A spokesman for Cleveland Police said: "We can confirm the body of a male has been recovered from the River Tees in Stockton this afternoon. It was spotted by a passer by near the Millennium Bridge."
The body has not yet been identified, a post mortem to establish the cause of death is to be held.
Christopher Shaw, 18, was last seen waiting for a taxi in Stockton High Street, at 2am last Sunday, after visiting the Zanzibar nightclub with a group of friends.
In an emotional Press conference this week, the teenager's mother, Donna Shaw, urged the youngster who lived with his family in Thistle Road, Stockton, to get in touch.
"There is no logic to what has happened. All we want is for him to come back safe and well," his mother said.
The five feet eight inches tall shipping clerk had been wearing a distinctive white Lambretta shirt with blue and red stripes on the sleeves when he was last seen.
Fuzzy CCTV footage shows a youth matching that description standing outside the nightclub and police appealed yesterday for anyone who may have been wearing similar clothing in the club that night, to come forward.
The Millennium Bridge is only several hundred yards from where Christopher was last seen alive.
