In the top match of the week Spennymoor Ashtree just failed by the odd point when they lost the deciding doubles to fellow title contenders, Crook Coach and Horses.
The home side had two singles points from Tony Biddle and one each from Harry Baillie, Paul Biddle, Stephen Jones and Ronnie McAloon, whilst the Coach replied with one point each for Michael Burke, Lee Scott, les Scott and Neil Campbell. The captain's games were played out of turn but les Scott took the opportunity to pull the match level when he beat the Ashtree's Paul Biddle in both games. In the deciding doubles the visiting Neil Campbell and Aaron Cowan beat Ronnie McAloon and Harry Baillie.
Toft Hill Three Tuns only managed two singles points in their home game against Bishop Auckland RAFA Club when Andrew Wilson and Graham Cummings won. The visitors had two points from Stuart Hambleton, Simon Roberts and Bob Chambers with Dave Sedman and Stephen Cowley adding one each. However the Tuns made the score respectable when Jack Carr and John Harvey took the doubles and Vince Hunt beat Stuart Hambleton in both captain's games.
Crook Olde Horse Shoe moved back to share the top place with Crook Coach and Horses with an eight points lead over Bishop Auckland Snooker Club B, who are three points ahead of Bishop Auckland King's Head.
The next League meeting will be held in the King's Head at 8.00p.m. on Tuesday, 2 July when all teams must be represented.

The Sun had singles wins from John Howcroft and Julian Bowey to add to their two doubles points from Peter race with Gary Butterfield and the Bowey brothers, Julian and Simon.
Crook Jelly's Bar A expected to close the gap at the top of the Second Division with a good win when they visited Crook Golden Fleece, but the home side held them to s draw. The Fleece had two singles points from Richard Dobson and Stephen Fairgrieve and one each from Wayne Tindale, Chris Mollett and Paul Futter. The visitors had two points from John Gibson with one from Andrew Heyes and Andy Palmer to add to their two doubles points before they forced the draw when Andy palmer took his second point when beating Martin Mann in the final singles.

The team knock-out took place at Daisy Hill Sacriston with eight of the 11 teams in the league entering.
Table one brought together league leaders Horden against second placed Shildon. Horden raced into a 7-0 lead with wins from Darren Jones, James Evans, Steve Nixon, Paul Hickman, Steve Wylie, John Bourne and Dave Jones. Shildon then got two frames back from Paul Armstrong and Martin Taylor before Shaun Williams got the winning point to make it 8-2 and put Horden in the next round.
Table two saw Durham A edge out Bishop Auckland 8-6 with two wins from Ben Bowen, Paul Shutt and Barry Dowson, one win each from Chris Greenwell and Lee Holdsworth. Bishop's wins came from Warren Stamp and Ron Wright with two wins each, and one each from Peter Mernor and Dave Baird.
Table three saw Durham B ease into the semis with a 8-3 win over Consett. Their was two wins each from Michael Rhodes, Paul Brockway and Andrew Morley, one win each for Andy Seal and Trevor Walton. Consett had wins from Kevin Rainbow, David Castledene and Alan Dixon.
Table four was the first match of the day to go to a play off game when Aycliffe A played Ferryhill. Aycliffe A had two wins from Dave Bromley and Johnny Mason, one win each for Christopher Mason, Craig Poskett and Steve Bainbridge. Ferryhill replied with two wins from Ronnie McAloon and Steve Webster, one win each from Chris Murray, Steve Wray and Simon Corbridge. Aycliffe's Andrew Tuesday was then drawn against Ferryhill's Phil Cox who cleared the table for victory when Tuesday failed to pot a ball from the break.
The first semi-final also went to play off game when Durham B went 3-0 up against Horden. Horden then went into a 6-4 lead only to see Durham B take three of the last four frames to force a play off. Durham B had two wins from Paul Brockway and Trevor Walton,with Michael Rhodes, Chris Bowron and Dave Hodgson adding one each.Horden had two wins from Steve Nixon and one each from Steve Wylie, John Bourne, James Evans David and Darren Jones. In the play off game Darren Jones was drawn against Michael Rhodes who cleaned his last six balls off and the black to clinch victory for the Durham B side.
The second semi-final was one sided and possibly the shock of the day when Durham A beat Ferryhill 8-3 to make it an all Durham final. Durham A had two wins from Dave Neill, Ben Bowen and Paul Shutt, one win each from Chris Greenwell and Barry Dowson. Ferryhill had wins from Steve Webster, Martin Short and Ronnie McAloon.
The final saw Durham B take a 7-3 lead with wins from Paul Brockway, Michael Rhodes, Trevor Walton, Chris Bowron, Dave Hodgson, Andy Seal and Ian Dinsdale. Durham A replied with one win from Ben Bowen and two wins from the unbeaten Paul Shutt. Only to see Durham B's unbeaten player Paul Brockway win his sixth game of the day and win the title 8-3 for the B team.
Tow Law League
Tow Law Dan's Castle A moved up to share the second place in the table with the visiting Tow Law North Point following their win in the decider. The singles were shared with Ian Johnson, Ian Maith and Lee Stockdale winning for the Castle and Howard Spoors, Dave Morton and Colin Armstrong replying. The first two doubles were also shared and then the Castle went to victory when Lee Furber and Lee Stockdale beat Dave Morton and Gary Turnbull in the decider.
Esh Football Club moved up to hare the second spot with Dan's Castle A and the North Point following their three points home win over Lanchester King's Head. The footballers had singles wins from John McCormick, Alan Brown, Eric Brown and Colin Neil with Malcolm Clarke and Keith Russell replying. The footballers completed their win by taking two of the three doubles points.
Tow Law Rose and Crown maintained their top position after they only dropped three points to the visiting Hamilton Row Black Horse and now the three joint second placed teams by four points.

Bishop Auckland Area League
Bishop Auckland Kings Head stretched their lead at the top of the table this week to seven points, with only ten more points to play for they look to have all but wrapped up the Championship. A convincing win at home to Spennymoor Penny Gill only dropping point underlined their good form. The visitors only point came from a singles game won by Simon Shields while the home team's points were won in the singles by Malcolm Parry, Andrew Tuesday, Steven Bainbridge and Peter Mernor. The first doubles were won by Andrew Tuesday and David Jacomb and the second by Malcolm Parry and Steven Bainbridge while Peter Mernor took the captains point.

The League Finals Day will be held at Bishop Auckland Grand on Saturday, 13 July at 12.30 pm when the finals of the three knock out competitions will all be played to a finish. The Team Knock Out will be down to two teams, the Pairs Championship down to four pairs and the Singles Championship down to the last eight. Two tables will be used with the finish anticipated at between 4.30 and 5.00p.m.
Spennymoor League
Spennymoor Penny Gill made a good home win over Spennymoor Hillingdon, who occupy a better position in the league table. The home side took four of the first five points with singles wins from J. Diaz, S. Brown, R. Appleby and K. Ball with P. Fox taking the only singles for the Hillingdon. The Penny Gill made certain of victory when B. Fulton and S. brown took the first doubles. The Hillingdon showed a late fight back to take the remaining doubles through K. Smith and G. Smith and then their captain, C. Simpson won the captain's game against A. Brown.
Spennymoor Quinns Inn moved to the top of the table by one points from Spennymoor Black Horse, whose result from Coxhoe Red Lion did not arrive on time and so the home team suffered a two points penalty. The third placed team is Spennymoor Victoria but they have played an extra match and trail by four points.
