BUDDING young Einsteins at a North Yorkshire prep school have proved their mathematical prowess in a national competition.
The 13-year-olds from Aysgarth School, near Bedale, took part in the United Kingdom Mathematics Trust (UKMT) junior challenge contest, where they were tested in a variety of disciplines.
Charles Holdsworth won a gold certificate while Edward Granger and Sam Glatman won silvers. Five others took bronzes.
The UKMT is administered by Leeds University's School of Mathematics and organises national maths challenges with the aim of raising the subject's profile and promoting pupils' enjoyment of it.
