Tow Law Area League

Tow Law Station made themselves the early leaders after beating their hosts at Newhouse Club by the odd point. Only John Gilchrist and Eric Rowland took singles wins for Newhouse, whilst Ray Kitching, George Hope, Joe Hope and Michael Bell put the Station ahead. Newhouse took the doubles by the odd point but this left the Station in front and moved them one point ahead of Esh Stag's Head and Tow Law New Market B.

Cornsay Royal Oak pulled off an odd point home win over Tow Law New Market A with a win in the decider. The singles were shared with George Cairns, Chris Close and Ian Truby winning for the Oak whilst Gary Parker, Dave Dixon and John Parkin replied. After the first two doubles were shared, the home side went to victory when Chris Close and John Close beat Dave Dixon and Gary Parker.

Crook League

Crook Mill House lifted themselves up to share the top spot in the First Division after they only dropped two points to the visiting fourth placed, Crook Olde Horse Shoe A. The Shoe made a great start when Jimmy Luke and Gavin Witton put them two up but from that point the Mill took over. They took the remaining singles through Ian Bibby, John Winning, Rob Bannister and Stephen Heyes and completed a good night when Eddie Ryan and Norman Slack took the doubles.

Willington Market looked well on the way to a whitewash success when they visited Crook Queen's Head B and took the first five points through Syd Trow, Micky Toward, John Blackett, Paul Lauder and Gary Trow. However the home side came back to break their duck when Anthony Gargett took the last singles and the father and son team of Malcolm and Stephen Gibson took the doubles.

Crook Olde Horse Shoe B and Crook Mill House lead the First Division by one point from Crook Belle Vue, who are two ahead of the Olde Horse Shoe A. The lead in the Second Division is shared by Jelly's Bar A and Willington Market, with Crook White Swan three points adrift.

Ithe top of the table clash Tow Law Rose and Crown edged one point ahead of the visiting Hamilton Row Black Horse thanks to a win in the decider. Pat Elliott put the visitors ahead but then Gavin Hammell and Derek Mowbray moved the home side ahead. Steve Wilkie levelled the scores with a win for the Horse. In the decider the home side's Chris Bowes beat John Henderson.

Tow Law New Market B were pushed away from their share of the top spot when they went down by the odd point at Sunniside Comedian. The home side had wins from Ray Johnson, Morgan Errington and Bill Railton, whilst Michael Bell and Robert Hopps scored the Market. Hamilton Row now share the second spot with the New Market B.
