Quakers
Four members travelled to Ripon on Wednesday, June 19 to compete in the annual Midsummer 10K. Alisdair Tatham was first Quaker home and third overall out of 216 runners in a time of 34:11, followed by Graham Park 19th, 38:59.
Dawn Richardson was second lady home and 27th overall in 40:04 and Jes Smith 140th, 52:52.
On Tuesday, June 18, there was an excellent turn out from the club for the third North Yorkshire & South Durham track and field league meeting. The meeting held at Eastbourne sports complex saw five athletes win their events and Lewis Moses break his second long standing club record in a week, Moses competing in the Under-17 boys 800 metres recorded a time of 2:10.1 to finish in second place.

On Sunday, June 16 there was a large turn out of Quakers at the Newton Aycliffe 3M Centenary 10k. First home for the club was Wayne Bramley who was 21st overall in a time of 37.26, followed by Neil Robinson 43rd 40.15. Julia Atkinson was first lady home and 5th lady 46th overall in 41.16.

Five juniors also competed in the Fun Run, Simon Carter was 10th in a time of 13.17, followed by Alexandra Snook 12th (2nd U16 Female) 13.24, James Snook 28th 15.33, Sam Giblin 87th 23.16 and Josh Giblin 88th 23.30.
Also on Sunday, the second North East Fell Championship race was run at St Johns Chapel, Weardale. The four mile course covered 1322 feet and was won by Steve Lumb of the Quakers in 38:42.

On Friday, June 7, a large contingent of Quakers travelled to Holland to compete in the Leiden annual 10K, half marathon and full marathon on the Sunday. An extremely hot day effected times but did not spoil an excellent weekend away.
Two Quakers competed in the full marathon. Keith Shevels was first home for the club in 3:44:13, despite the 23 degree temperature produced a PB, followed by Mike Wray in 3:49:48.
Crook & District
A busy time for runners with pride of place going to Colin Everson who ran the Blackpool Marathon in a time of 3 hours. 10 mins. Up on the fells Mike Mallen was second in the Durham Dales St. Johns Chapel four-mile event, Graham Bradshaw third, Phil Carter fifth and Gerry Hehir 15th which secured the Veteran team victory, Martin Harbisher and Allen Purdham ably supporting.
Phil Carter also finished the prestigious Grasmere Gallop over 7.5 miles in 22nd place.
At the Newton Aycliffe 10 km. road race Malcolm Ingram ran 36.25 to be second O-45, John Dennis 37.43 and Geoff Hewitson 39.32.
At the Croxdale ten-miler Malcolm Ingram ran 60.06 for eight place overall, John Dennis 63.45 and Allen Purdham 78.20. The five mile event saw Kevin Allen run 30.43.
Thirsk and
Sowerby Harriers
It was a warm summer's evening for the Ripon Midsummer 10k and a field of 216 enjoyed this rural multi-terrain course. The event was won by Neil Clayton of Otley in 33.30. John Yates finished in 10th place in 37.18.
Other Harriers: Stephan Tomaszewski 37th 41.19, Ernie Huck 42nd 41.52, Hywel Smith 56th 43.28, Alan Somers 61st 43.46, Alasdair Thorpe 75th 45.09, Nigel Morgan 98th 47.39, Steve Harrison 99th 47.50, Cath Lumb 134th 51.56, Ian Codling 136th 52.10, Nicola Thorpe 156th 54.51.
The previous Sunday the 3M Centenary 10k was held - a two and a half lap course round Newton Aycliffe. Ian Codling was 152nd in 51.34.
Other Harriers: Pamela Sherlock 211th 64.34, Marian Codling 214th 65.52. There were 218 finishers.
The Scarborough Fayre 10k attracted 200 runners and was again a two lap, hilly course. The race was won by Shaun O'Grady of New Marske Harriers in 33.08 minutes.
Alan Somers was in 82nd place in 44.57, Ian Codling 145th in 53.37, Sarah Somers, just getting back into training again after an operation, was 180th in 59.43, Pamela Sherlock 194th in 64.33 and Marian Codling 196th in 65.34.
