It was trophies galore as Riverside Football Club enjoyed an amazing weekend at local football tournaments.
The Under-8s won the tournament at Redhouse Sunderland whilst the Under-9s were successful at the Whitburn Festival. The under tens RAR also won their tournament at Whitburn but only after a thrilling semi-final against rivals Riverside Boys, who were unlucky to lose out on penalties. The Under-12s finished off a wonderful weekend by winning their competition at Hartlepool. Defender Andy Harrison completed a great double playing for the under nines on Saturday and scoring three goals as a makeshift striker for the under tens on Sunday.
Andy reminded everybody what junior football is all about - kids enjoyment - when he commented: "This is mint. I've scored more goals today than in the whole of my football career."

Willington Boys Under-13s won the five-a-side Plate football tournament at the Aycliffe Show for the second year in a row.
The final was contested by the two Willington sides who entered the competition.
The two Willington teams both came through the qualifying rounds, the Blues unbeaten and the Hornets on goal difference. Both were then knocked out of the main Shield competition in the first round to the eventual finalists.
The Blues lost to the ultimate winners Spennymoor United, and the Hornets to runners-up Inter Mylan.
After winning through to the final of the secondary Plate competition for first round losers, the Blues beat the Hornets 7-0 in a hard-fought contest between the two Willington sides.
"It was very competitive, but also very sporting. The two sides shook hands before and after the game," said team boss Jeff Alston,
"Although they lost to the eventual finalists in the main competition, both should have won their first round matches."
