Boddingtons Durham Coast League Under-18s
Gary Frater was again in outstanding form for Boldon CA but despite scoring 68 he was unable to secure victory for his side in the home game with Peterlee. Boldon ended on 113-4 with Winter taking 2-20 in the Peterlee attack and replying the visitors won losing just three wickets. Paul Griffith carried his bat for 55 and Adam Maddison contributed 29 to the total of 117-3.
Seaham Park overtook the Hylton score of 102-5 with six wickets remaining. Amer Akhtar added 25 and Morton finished unbeaten on 32 in the Seaham Park total of 106-4. Chris Rushworth captured three of the wickets for just 19 runs and when Hylton batted first and ended on 102-5 most of the runs came from Kit Allan with 53.
Andrew Stephenson (47) and Jamie Greenwood (45) lead Dawdon to 111-4 at Murton for whom Graham Johnson claimed two wickets for 16 runs and Tony Watson 2-29. In reply Murton finished with 102-9 which included 31 by Howe. Scott took 4-20 and Greenwood 2-19 for Dawdon.
After Silksworth had realised 104, neighbours Ryhope won losing just one wicket as Scott finished with 30 not out and Briggs contributed 34.
At Bill Quay, Houghton were dismissed for just 63 and almost half the runs came from Dowell with 31. South, with the oustanding figures of 4-10 and Trotter and Philips, who each claimed two wickets, brought about Houghton's early dismissal.
When they batted first, Bill Quay ended with 124-6 on the board. Anthony Trotter scored 37 and Christopher Little 25 not out while for Houghton Gary Snowball had figures of 2-36 and Ian Dixon 2-23.
Bob Hay Cup
Brandon progressed with a nine wickets victory at home to Evenwood even though they were required to score 116 runs after Evenwood's innings had produced a useful total of 115-2. Bill Teasdale recorded four boundaries in 45 and Colin Coatsworth had four fours in 33 not out for Evenwood while for Brandon Jamie Robinson, who also plays in the under 13 team, conceded just 18 runs in five overs.
Responding, Brandon reached 116-1 mainly as a result of the efforts of Scott Hopson who recorded six boundaries carrying his bat for 66. He was ably assisted in an unbroken second wicket partnership by Michael Fort, with 28 not out.
Ushaw Moor also reached the next stage defeating Etherley by six wickets. Scott Nattrass lead the visitors' reply with 32 and Dawson added 22 to the Ushaw Moor total of 83-4. Adam Lyle with figures of 3-13 from 2.5 overs, was the most productive bowler in the Etherley attack. When Etherley made first use of the wicket they reached 82-4 which included identical scores of 23 by Carl McGregor and Chris Renshaw. The two youngsters both scored three boundaries and for Ushaw Moor Gill took two of the four wickets to go down for 22 runs in five overs.
Esh Winning enjoyed an eight wickets success against Langley Park. Faced with a target of 122 they were indebted to Chris Hurst for his 35 before Eddie Watson carried his bat for 63, crashing four sixes and six boundaries. Craig Hopper also remained unbeaten on 21, finding the boundary line on three occasions.
Daniel Wilson ended with 50 not out which included one six and four fours when Langley Park posted 121-5. Mark Davison bowled a good end for Esh Winning and in five overs conceded just 17 runs taking two wickets.
Alf Armes Under-15s Cup
Dawdon progressed with an eight wickets victory at Castle Eden where the home side scored 101-7 which included 51 by Richard Evans. Jamie Greenwood took three of the seven wickets to fall for 22 runs before Dawdon went on to win in the 19th over losing just two wickets. Andrew Gale contributed 32 and Greenwood 25.
Dawdon however fell at the next hurdle losing by five wickets to Houghton. Batting first, Dawdon realised only 65-7 and their top scorer was Appleby with 16. Carl White took 2-13 and Bradley Smith had figures of 3-12 in the Houghton attack.
Houghton conceded five wickets before winning and their top scorer was Alan Marchant with 19 while for Dawdon Scott picked up two of the five wickets to go down for just ten runs.
Fosters Northumberland and Tyneside Under-15s
APlain had 22 runs to spare defeating Greenside at the end of a low scoring game.
The Plain reached 70-6 mainly due to the efforts of Brinton with 21 and Byers who carried his bat for 22 which included a couple of boundaries. Jonathan Marshall captured three wickets for six runs in five overs and Chris Philipson had figures of 2-21, also in a five overs spell for Greenside. Responding, Greenside were all out for 48. Perryman claimed 3-5 in three overs, Gardener took 2-2 from four overs and in his four overs spell Philips had 3-16.
Lanchester comfortably defeated Blaydon, posting 77-7 which included 25 by McPhail. Blaydon were then pegged to just 43.
Gray took three wickets without conceding a run and Foster had figures of 3-13 when Lintz sent Chopwell back with only 47-9 on the board, this after Lintz had totalled 82-5.
Whickham ran up the useful score of 123-2 mainly as a result of the efforts of Richard Brodie (46) and Jeff Bowman who carried his bat for 31. Replying, Tantobie made just 49 as Brodie claimed four wickets for four runs in two overs and Gavin Cree had 3-21 from five overs.
Federation Special Durham Senior League Under-15s
Paul Davidson made a marvellous century and Kyle Bradbury 73 when the pair added 190 for South Hetton against Seaham Harbour.
The home side ended on 195-2 before restricting Seaham Harbour to 83 which included 25 by Bell and 21 from Sherrif. John Maddison was the pick of the South Hetton attack with figures of 2-7.
Philadelphia posted a useful 122-2 against South Shields at Wood Terrace where the home side replied with 117-2. Luke Anderson carried his bat for 37 and Jonathan Loach also made 37 for Phili. Greg Fiddell (23), Michael Dunn (24 not out) and Chris Nichol (21) almost won the game for South Shields.
Matthew Hooper with 37 lead Eppleton to a match-winning 103-4 at Whitburn who were 93-7 at stumps. Andrew Gilbert was Whitburn's top runmaker with 20 and for Eppleton Borthwick captured 2-15.
Martin Stephenson carried his bat for 42 in the Chester le Street total of 88-6 against Gateshead Fell. Porter and Brown both took two wickets for the Fell who won losing just one wicket as Mujib finished unbeaten on 73.
Burnmoor enjoyed a ten wicket victory at home to Hetton Lyons, who were penned to 61-6 as Michael Hall claimed 3-12 in four overs. Scott Robinson and Alex Ludlow each took one wicket before Daniel Pearson hit two sixes and two boundaries in an unbeaten 32 and Robinson had a couple of fours when he ended undefeated with 25.
Federation Special Durham Snior League Under-18s
Joel Hughes and Tim Stonick were both in outstanding form for Durham City against Felling. Hughes was just two runs short of a century as he finished undefeated on 98 and Stonick contributed 51 to the Durham City total of 168 for the loss of just one wicket. Replying, Felling managed only 60-6.
Chester le Street overtook the Gateshead Fell target of 93 with eight wickets intact. Daniel Shurben finished with 59 not out after Chris Moore had captured four wickets for just 30 runs restricting Gateshead Fell to 92-5 which included 51 by Richie Smith.
South Shields powered their way to 164-3 in their game with Philadelphia. David Maughan produced a marvellous innings of 84 and Ray McRae added 39. Although Bewick Hall scored 25, Phili were quickly back in the pavilion as Johnny Wightman took 3-13, Kris McShane 2-1 and McRae 2-5.
David Lowther maintained his good form scoring 58 of the Eppleton total of 106-6 against Whitburn for whom Adam Lock claimed three wickets for 26 runs. Whitburn won losing just three wickets as Andy Turns finished unbeaten on 43 and Ian Elliot carried his bat for 23. Lowther completed a good night's work for Eppleton when he drew all three Whitburn wickets to fall for just 29 runs.
A timely innings of 39 not out by Arundel enabled Marsden to overtake the Sunderland score of 87-3 with seven wickets remaining. McOwat, with 29, top performed for Sunderland.
Boddingtons Durham Coast League Under-15s
Tim Bowman was in top form for Houghton visiting Castle Eden where he hit four sixes and six boundaries in a top scoring 71 out of a total of 120 for four. Topping bowled four overs in the Castle Eden attack returning figures of two for 27 but when Smith captured three for 15 in four overs for Houghton, the home side were pegged to 81 for six. Murton were dismissed for 47 in their home game with Peterlee for whom Wylie had the outstanding figures of four for 11 from four overs and Buckingham also bowled four overs claiming three wickets for five runs.
Buckingham then carried his bat for 18 as Peterlee edged to victory despite losing six wickets, three of them to Blades for 12 runs in four overs.
Dawdon overtook the Boldon CA total of 79 for eight with eight of their wickets in tact. Scott found the boundary once when he finished undefeated on 30 and Proud was also undefeated with 24 which included three fours.
Batting first Boldon CA managed 79 for eight of which Shaun Erskine made 25 with three boundaries. Scott, with three for 11 and Readymarcher, whose three wickets were taken at a cost of 18 runs, each bowled four overs.
Readers Durham County League Under-15s
AJohnson, with three boundaries in 34 and Ian Myers, who struck a couple of fours scoring 24, led Brandon to a match winning 107 for four in their game with Langley Park.
Although Andrew Smith struck four boundaries scoring 46 Langley Park were restricted to 91 for nine when Jamie Robinson claimed four wickets for 20 runs in five overs.
At Crook Town, Esh Winning went down by 21 runs when the home side realised 83 for three which included 45 by Mark Bowey. Simpson took two for 20 for Esh who in response made 62 for seven and Simpson also top performed with the bat ending on 21.
Bowey completed a good night for Crook with figures of three for 13 in five overs and Peter Robinson returned two for 13 also in a five overs spell.
Etherley overtook the Shildon total of 55 with five wickets in tact and at Bishop Auckland the home side at 34 runs in hand at Mainsforth. Batting first Bishops realised 110 for two before Mainsforth responded with 76 for nine including 32 by Kris Johnson and 25 by Nick Patterson.
Ushaw Moor defeated Willington by seven wickets.
Batting first Willington ended on 59 for five of which Brookbury scored 25 not out while for Ushaw Moor Guy had two for 14. Facey then top scored with 25 when Ushaw Moor replied with 60 for three.
Friarside Cup
Blaydon won at a canter when they visited Greenside after posting the healthy total of 157-4 in their 20 overs. David Bailey led the way, hitting one six and 11 boundaries in an unbeaten 84 from just 60 deliveries. Gary Stewart had five boundaries in his 44 compiled from 47 balls. Andrew Britton with 2-15 from five overs was the most productive and economical bowler in the Greenside attack.
When the home side replied they managed only 62-8 with Daniel Linton hitting six boundaries in 34. Gary Stewart completed a good night by claiming 3 wickets for 5 runs in three overs. Richard Neave had two wickets without cost from three overs and Thompson collected a couple of wickets for 17 runs in his two overs spell.
