YOUNGSTERS at Eldon Lane Primary School have won a Healthy Schools Award.
Staff at the school have been working closely with Wear Valley District Council's Healthy Schools co-ordinator, Lynn Wilson, to achieve the award, which was recently presented to the children by council deputy leader Councillor Margaret Ingledew.
Arron Briddick, 11, and Rebecca Place, ten, accepted the award on behalf of the school.
Headteacher Dorothy Hope said the award was the result of hard work by the community of Eldon and not just the school.
She said: "We were actually already doing a lot of the things required for the award. Lynn Wilson has been great to work with and this has been a huge community effort."
