A MAYOR donned sunglasses to show his support for a national campaign.
Councillor Peter Gibson, the City of Sunderland's mayor, put on his shades to advertise the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association's Shades for a Day campaign.
The national campaign day, on July 16, aims to raise funds for eye research.
Coun Gibson, accompanied by Mayoress Betty Gibson and a new registered guide dog owner, Alan Brooke from Sunderland, attempted to recruit sponsors for the event.
Anyone wanting to take part in Shades for a Day can visit the guide dog association's website at www.guidedogs.org.uk, or call (0118) 983 8228.
