Turkey have claimed third place after beating co-hosts South Korea 3-1 in Daegu.
Hakan Sukur's goal after just 11 seconds will go down in the history books as the fastest ever goal in the World Cup finals.
The Parma striker, whose place was under threat after a number of below-par performances, repaid the faith shown in him by coach Senol Gunes, when he capitlised on Hong Myung-bo's error on the edge of the area before placing the ball past Woon-Jae Lee.
The Korean's were level eight minutes later when Lee Eul-Young delivered a superb free-kick into the top corner giving Rustu Recber no chance.
The impressive Ilhan Mansiz restored his sides lead in the 13th minute after linking up well with Sukur.
Ilhan added his second with little over half an hour played, with a cool finish over Lee.
Song Chong-Gug pulled a goal back late in the second half but it was too little too late as Guus Hiddink's side brought the curtain down on an astonishing World Cup campaign which saw them become the first ever Asian side to reach the semi-final stage.
