VILLAGERS partied all day at the weekend when their community carnival doubled as a celebration to mark the Queen's golden jubilee.
People lined the streets of Toft Hill and Etherley as a procession, including carnival floats, jazz bands, Teesdale Pipes and Drums and revellers in fancy dress passed by.
The parade launched a day of celebration as both communities gathered in the Quarry Field, Toft Hill.
John Thompson, a member of the Toft Hill and Etherley carnival committee, said everyone enjoyed themselves.
He said: "It has been a very successful day. We wanted to give the children from the village a day to remember with free rides and entertainment.''
The carnival committee joined forces with other organisations for the event on Saturday.
People decked their homes in flags and bunting.
A National Lottery grant and a £750 gift from the parish council helped to fund the celebrations.
