YOUNGSTERS learned the arts of spinning discs, dancing and gospel singing as part of a music festival at the weekend.
Music for All, the first event of its kind held at Hermitage School, in Chester-le-Street, invited people from throughout the area to learn skills and sample a range of musical styles.
It ran from Friday to yesterday, and included workshops on everything from African drumming to learning how to mix dance music.
The festival began with entertainment by buskers on the school lawn, a ceilidh dance and sound sculptures made by pupils from Hermitage, Bullion Lane and Newker schools with help from Jack Drum Arts.
Saturday's full-day session began at 9.15am and included a DJ workshop, dance coaching and a gospel choir workshop, and yesterday's programme included an electric guitar workshop and a grand finale performance by all participants.
