A MAN and a woman have been arrested following an accident in which a taxi driver died.
William Angus Bell, 44, of Brinkburn Crescent, Ashington, Northumberland, was pronounced dead at the scene after a tipper lorry collided with his taxi at the Woodhorn crossroads, near Newbiggin, Northumberland, at 12.40am on Saturday.
The lorry's two occupants were seen heading towards the Linton area.
The red and white Ford Iveco lorry was bought at an auction in Yorkshire on Friday, has an orange lifting mechanism, and is registered P329 DKR.
Yesterday, a man and a woman were released on police bail after being interviewed in connection with the incident. Witnesses are asked to ring 0191-214 6555.
