Redcar and Cleveland people are being asked to nominate their favourite local landmarks for a national heritage award.
The borough's council has been invited to submit landmarks or prestigious buildings for the Queen's Golden Jubilee Heritage Awards.
The one-off awards will be given to local authorities that have protected and preserved buildings and monuments of historic significance.
Council leader David Walsh is asking people to suggest which buildings should be nominated.
"I think we should have a go in Redcar and Cleveland," he said. "We do, I believe, have a fine selection of outstanding buildings and a local history to be proud of.
"They are looking for buildings which could be seen as symbolic in promoting historical or community importance or which might represent fine design or craftsmanship."
Winning entries will receive national publicity and a plaque marking the Golden Jubilee award.
Coun Walsh already has ideas for the council's entries, including the Victorian pier and cliff lift at Saltburn, Kirkleatham Almshouses, Marske Cheshire Home and Redcar Blast Furnace.
Send ideas to Coun Walsh at the Town Hall, Fabian Road, South Bank TS6 9AR.
