THIEVES who entered a house in Darlington through an unlocked door stole several nine-carat gold rings and other items.
The burglary happened between 6pm and 9.30pm on Saturday, in Arundel Drive. Also taken was a black leather handbag containing a cheque book and credit cards, a Motorola mobile phone, cash and a two tone gold-coloured Quartz watch. The thieves took a heart ring, a ladies' signet ring, a diamond and sapphire wishbone ring, a diamond cluster sapphire ring, a wedding band, a diamond and sapphire half-hoop eternity ring and a two-diamond and sapphire ring. TOOLS STOLEN: Power tools were stolen from a brick outhouse in Darlington at the weekend. The burglary happened in Skeeby Road, and the thieves also stole a man's mountain bike. Tools taken included a Bosch jigsaw, a Panasonic cordless drill, a DeWalt masonry drill and plane, and a metal toolbox containing various tools. Summer fair: A fair is being held at Gurney Pease Primary School, in Darlington, on Saturday. The event will run from 10am until 2pm and will include a car boot sale, magic circus and bouncy castle. Admission is 20p and all proceeds will go to school funds.
DANCE DATE: Dancers will be stepping out to the organ music of Graeme Scarlett at Holy Family Social Centre, Prior Street, Cockerton, Darlington, on Sunday, July 14, from 8pm. Admission costs £2 at the door.
DANCE CONTEST: Chilton Community College dance teacher Clare Walton is holding her first slow and freestyle dance competition at Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre on Sunday, July 14, from 10am. Admission is £6.50.
ART EVENT: Ingleton Art Group will present its annual art exhibition in Ingleton Village Hall on Saturday, from 11am to 4pm. Admission is free and the event will include strawberry teas and a raffle.
SUMMER FAIR: The Salvation Army hosts its annual summer fair, at the Worship and Community Centre, in Cross Street, Shildon, on Saturday, July 13, at 2pm. There will be stalls, activities and refreshments.
