MODELS, actors and presenters have given the world a revealing glimpse of how they see themselves,
The celebrities unveiled self-portraits at the launch of Self Portrait UK - supported by Northern Arts and The National Portrait Gallery - in Newcastle. The scheme invites people of all ages to communicate their individuality and imagination by producing a self-portrait.
Model Jodie Kidd, TV presenter June Sarpong, actress and musician Toyah Willcox and Republic of Ireland and Newcastle United goalkeeper Shay Given are among the celebrities inviting viewers to take part, in a series of promotions as part of a year-long Channel 4 campaign.
A panel of judges will select the best portraits to reveal individuality, identity and imagination. These will be displayed in the National Portrait Gallery and feature on television.
Channel 4 newsman Jon Snow and actress Jenny Agutter launched the campaign yesterday.
Snow said: "I thought painting my self-portrait would all be about the shape of my nose but in the end I found it was all about how my brain, even my thought processes work.
"It was both enjoyable and thoroughly alarming!"
