STUDENTS turned their hands to the problems of running a local council yesterday.
Teams from nine secondary schools across the borough of Stockton took part in the event at the Oakwood Centre, Eaglescliffe.
The event was aimed at promoting an understanding of how an authority is run, which is part of the citizenship curriculum.
The teams played the role of a management team for the day, tackling key issues that a local authority may have to face and making decisions on scenarios presented to them throughout the day.
Leader of Stockton Borough Council, Councillor Bob Gibson, and deputy leader, Councillor David Coleman, attended the event to see how the teams coped with the problems they were given to tackle.
