FIFA chief Sepp Blatter had a newly wed couple on top of the world when he arranged their honeymoon for them.
Mr Blatter, the most powerful man in football, stepped in to help Keith Telford and his new wife Lynda.
The couple had planned to have their honeymoon at the World Cup final in Japan but had been unable to get tickets through FIFA's website.
So Lynda, 43, wrote directly to Mr Blatter asking for his help. Within 24 hours he had arranged VIP passes for the Brazil v Germany final.
Crane driver Keith, 36, of Hamsterley Colliery, Co Durham, said: "We applied for tickets through the FIFA website but were unsuccessful so Lynda wrote a nice letter to Mr Blatter after getting his address from the Internet.
"She told him we wanted to spend our honeymoon in Japan and he found us two VIP tickets, it was amazing.
"We can't thank him enough, he has made out honeymoon really special."
Keith and council worker Lynda will spend another week in Japan and plan to see Disneyland and Mount Fuji.
A FIFA spokesman said: "In some special circumstances if we can do something we like to give a hand.
"Sometimes we just find ourselves in a position to help which was the case in this instance."
