A DOG owner is appealing for witnesses to a road accident in which his pet died.
Damien Smith's dog, Rambo, was killed when it was run over by a taxi in Station Road, Middleton St George, in the early hours of Sunday.
Mr Smith is distraught at losing the German shepherd/Doberman-cross and wants to know exactly what happened.
He said: "My girlfriend saw my dog go into the road after a cat. The taxi pushed the dog along the road and never stopped.
"I was told there were a couple of people in the back when it happened and I've made a lot inquiries with taxi firms and no one knows anything."
He said: "My best friend has been taken away from me. I laid him to rest at Lake Windermere. That is where we always went camping.
"I feel I am half-way through a book and I can't put and end to it. I just want someone to have the bottle to say they were driving and that it was an accident."
Anyone with any information can contact Mr Smith on 07815 413905.
