SAMBA celebrations in the style of the new football world champions Brazil will echo around Crook on Friday, when it will be carnival time for 400 children from seven schools.
The Summer Samba Beat Carnival, which will start with a parade, follows a series of workshops in the schools over the past three weeks.
Music tutor Emily Feldberg has taught the samba rhythms to youngsters from Crook Primary, Crook Nursery, St Wilfrid's RC Primary, in Bishop Auckland, Oakley Cross Primary, West Auckland Primary, Howden-le-Wear Primary, Peases West Primary and Woodhouse Close Infant schools.
All the children will be carrying banners and wearing their brightest clothes for the procession, which leaves Glenholme Leisure Complex car park at 9.45am and ends at Crook Primary School.
Anyone wanting to join is asked to take anything they can use to create a beat.
The project is funded by Wear Valley Arts, backed by Wear Valley District Council, Durham County Council, the Crook and Willington Regeneration Partnership and the Bishop Auckland Regeneration Partnership
